Health and Safety Representatives - Commonwealth Jurisdiction
Duration: 5 Days
This course provides Health and Safety Representatives with an understanding
of their powers and the health and safety issues applicable to the various
agencies.

Legislation; Regulations and Codes of Practice; Policies and Agreements;
Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation; Workplace Arrangements; Provisional
Improvement Notices and Emergency procedures; OHS Committees; Investigations
and Appeals; Risk Management; Accident Investigation; Manual Handling;
Ergonomics; Hazardous Substances; Workers with Special Needs; Workplace
Inspection and Reports; Conflict Resolution; Negotiation Skills; Stress
Who Should Attend
Elected health and safety representatives from within the Commonwealth
jurisdiction.
Learning Outcomes
• Understanding of the OHS Act 1991 and Health and Safety Management
Arrangements (HSMAs)
• Know the role, functions and powers of a health and safety representative
• Knowledge and skills to exercise the powers of a health and safety
representative
• Develop strategies to implement the Act in a Designated Work Group.
Proof of Identity
Proof of identification must be shown to the trainer before the course
commences. Minimum requirements are NSW Drivers Licence or NSW Photo ID less
than two years old, plus a Medicare Card and a current Credit Card.
Award
Participants who successfully complete the course by demonstrating competency
during individual and group activities will receive an NSCA Statement of
Attendance.
