Minimising wastage in your business

Business waste takes many forms and can occur across every part of a business.  Waste is usually considered as unwanted or useless materials, but wastage in business can also be seen in inefficiencies in processes or practices.

Waste, in whatever form it appears, unless managed well, can erode business profits, negatively affect productivity and efficiency, and detract from business sustainability.

Simple workplace practices that address inefficiencies and wastage revolve around:

  • reducing waste
  • the reuse of materials
  • recycling.

These three practices are easy to implement and go a long way to reducing costs and the need for storage, whilst boosting productivity and efficiencies.

Regular monitoring of processes and practices and preventive maintenance can ensure waste is avoided before it occurs.
