An extra one million people will call Sydney home in the next ten years.

To cope with this extraordinary growth, Sydney’s transport network is undergoing major changes.
Please see dedicated guide for business during construction here and refer to the construction timelines, construction schedule, contact details and workshops available for business to support travel during the Light Rail construction.

21.09.15 - Latest Transport Changes in the City
With significant investment in Sydney’s CBD there will be changes to our transport network from October 2015. This will affect everybody who travels in and out of the CBD.

Businesses are being encouraged to plan ahead and consider how staff and suppliers travelling to and from the CBD can adapt their vehicle travel through the four R’s – Reroute, Remode, Retime or Reduce

Transport for NSW is offering businesses free transport advice through a dedicated business resource called Travel Choices.
If you are a business employing over 500 members of staff you are entitled to a dedicated specialist travel advisor who will work with you and provide tailored solutions to manage any impacts resulting from the works. Email for further information.

If you have less than 500 employees, register for a free workshop so you can plan ahead and adapt your travel plans as construction work for ‘Tomorrow’s Sydney’ begins. The workshop will provide information on how the projects will affect you, including the construction plan for the CBD Light Rail project, changes to George Street, construction timelines, changes to bus services, route schedules and potential impacts to service and delivery.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to pinpoint how your business will be affected and will have developed a travel action plan to ensure your business is resilient to the changes in our transport network. You will also receive contact details of the Travel Choices’ team to ensure ongoing support as the city changes begin. Register at

17.09.15 - Sydney CBD Work in Progress
The CBD and South East Light Rail (CSELR) is a major infrastructure project that will transform Sydney. It will provide a fast, reliable public transport service from Circular Quay, through the CBD, to Kingsford and Randwick via Surry Hills, Moore Park and Kensington. The light rail project is part of an integrated transport solution that will improve public transport in the south east, manage future growth, boost urban renewal and reduce congestion in the CBD.
Investigation works continuing in the CBD – 18 September to 20 November 2015 (day and night time work)
ALTRAC Light Rail will continue to carry out surveys, geotechnical investigations and potholing works in preparation for main construction work. Work at any one location will not be continuous and further information will be provided to potentially affected properties throughout the works. Work may involve localised traffic and pedestrian changes including lane closures. See below for details.
