Hunter Business Chamber Regional Infrastructure Committee meets at 8.00am on the second Tuesday of every month (except January).
It is the watchdog on a wide range of issues concerning infrastructure and is proactive in bringing members together to address key areas of interest around this vital topic including:
- promoting and facilitating infrastructure opportunities for the region
- planning and land use strategies
- Williamtown Airport, road and rail links, communication and technology.
The committee is concerned with a wide range of project topics and regularly hosts a range of presenters. Recent agenda items and guests have included:
- Hunter Water – water security in the region
- AECOM – Very Fast Train study and implications for the region
- Ausgrid Smart Grid Smart City and the role of new technology and renewable energy in the region
- the NBN roll out and timing
- the regions 'top 10' infrastructure projects and the process of highlighting these to all levels of Government
- consideration of the implications of a wide range of local government policies strategies and development control plans.
Relevant government media releases, funding information and opportunities are circulated to members, by email on a regular basis.
The committee encourages Chamber members with Infrastructure interests to attend these meetings or join the mailing list. The committee is chaired by Director, Bob Hawes.
