Darren Cocks is the Chief Operating Officer for Australian Business Solutions Group, the commercial services division of the NSW Business Chamber group. Darren leads a talented team of multidisciplinary experts across Australia, China, India and the UKIE, leading the strategy formulation and execution of a commercial professional services portfolio of companies ranging from recruitment, legal, HR services, online business solutions products and international trade.
He has represented the Chamber on several committees. Darren heads up collaborations between Chambers of Commerce Nationally. Currently he is leading a new initiative to assist Australian Businesses take products to China as well as leading the team delivering the WCF congress to Sydney in September 2017.
He holds several qualifications in HR and Learning and Development Management. He has a Graduate Diploma of Management and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
Prior to that he held the role of Director of Member and Commercial Services at NSW Business Chamber, overseeing both membership and commercial services operations of the Chamber.
Darren has spent his working life dedicated to promoting skills development in Australia and was founder of the Australian Apprenticeships Alliance linking Apprenticeship Services nationally and providing national companies a seamless HR solution and online technology from Sydney to the Christmas Islands. He is a Director of numerous internal company boards both wholly owned and Joint Ventures.
Darren has worked across Trade Recognition of Overseas and Australian Workers and Industrial Relations wages advice, followed by various other roles related to the promotion of Apprenticeship and Traineeships and Learning and Development strategies. He has worked in Business consulting within the Chamber is also Chair of Apprenticeships Support Australia, a Joint Venture between the largest Business Chambers in Australia and is the largest provider of apprenticeships placement services in the Country. He specialises in business transformation and has led start-up businesses, Joint ventures and 13 acquisitions at the Chamber. He is currently leading the team delivering the WCF congress to Sydney in September 2017.
