Western Sydney is missing out on Australia’s booming destination holiday park market because of an undersupply of quality holiday parks in the region, says a new report commissioned by the Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney and the Caravan & Camping Industry Association NSW.

The Sydney Business Chamber Western Sydney and the Caravan & Camping Industry Association NSW have released a report that found that areas such as the Western Sydney Parklands, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly, The Hawkesbury, Penrith and the Blue Mountains could potentially house destination holiday parks due to their proximity to green and open space, walking trails, cycleways and public transport.

Destination holidays parks are the missing piece of the Western Sydney visitor economy. There are open spaces that the inner suburbs of Sydney don't have and yet there is still not a strong offering in this booming market sector.

We are recommending that the NSW Government take a leadership role and work with local councils, the Western Sydney Parkland Trust and industry to break the impasse that has prevented the flourishing of destination holiday parks in Western Sydney.
