Nominations are now open for the 2017 IMB Bank Illawarra Business Awards which this year has a number of new categories, recognising the continued transformation of the Illawarra economy and enormous talent of the Illawarra.
Executive Director Illawarra Business Chamber, Chris Lamont said nominations for all award categories open today and this year’s awards program includes some new categories that provide an even greater opportunity for the best businesses in the Illawarra to showcase their success.
The theme for this year’s award ceremony is ‘Diamonds are Forever’, which supports the overall intention behind the awards, to recognise and celebrate the hidden and not so hidden gems of the Illawarra business community.
“The awards are about recognising business achievement and excellence. Small and large business are encouraged to nominate and this year sees a number of new categories in the areas of social enterprise, tourism, retail and hospitality,” said Chris Lamont.
IMB Bank CEO Robert Ryan said he believes businesses, large and small, should celebrate and recognise their achievements and the IMB Bank Illawarra Business Awards is an excellent way of acknowledging the best in the community.
“IMB Bank is proud to support some fantastic businesses across the Illawarra. It is important to celebrate business success and encourage the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs and these awards are a great way to do that,” he said.
“We work closely with hundreds of local businesses and the one thing they have in common is their commitment to provide employment and services to the community.”
This year attendees at the gala to be held on Friday, 20 October will be entertained by a James Bond inspired act “007 Ooh James” as well as 6-piece band “Venus”. Guests will feast on a three-course menu designed and overseen by food ambassador Geoff Jansz.
The awards have been running for more than 20 years and showcase some of the leading business talent and success stories for the region. There are 17 award categories to enter this year and winners of 12 of the NSW aligned award categories will get State wide recognition as finalists in the NSW Business Chamber Awards.
